Tom Ford Lips & Boys

Anyone who is a client of mine, has had a lesson with me or follows me on social media will know I’m a huge lover of all things Tom Ford! For this blog post I want to talk to you about the Lips & Boys range.

Why is it called Lips & Boys?!?! Well, there are 50 shades in the current collection and each one is named after an influential male who has been or is presently in Tom Ford’s Life.

What’s so special about them?? There’s 50 of them, 50. The usual luxurious texture and highly pigmented quality speaks for itself, but the range of shades is just phenomenal! Sure there’s going to be shades which aren’t so everyday like the cool grey hue of Stavros, but it’s still a shade that a pale toned Ash blonde would most definitely rock.

Now TF Beauty, like the rest of the TF brand is pure luxury and with that comes the luxury price tag. A normal TF Lipstick comes in at £38 for 3g of product. But how many of us actually reach the bottom of our lippy’s before we move on to another ‘to die for’ shade?? The Lips & Boys Collection are priced at a more purse friendly £27, you get 2g of product and an added bonus I have found is that they are much more clutch friendly sized.

2 weeks ago I was invited by Lynsey, the assistant manager of TF House of Frasers Glasgow to come view, swatch and try the range. I was like a kid in a toy shop – seriously, my arm was like a patchwork quilt! I hadn’t got one swatch on my arm before I was eyeing up the next. After some (lots) of fun playing with these beauties I came to the conclusion there’s a lot of shades which are gorgeous but are very close to the mainstream lipstick shades – some are indeed just small renamed versions of popular mainstream colours – disappointing. There were a few which really, really aren’t to my taste – but I did have fun trying them and a right good giggle at the reflection in the mirror! And then………there were the ones I HAD to have. Before I went in, I had decided I was only buying winter berry tones as I’m a sucker for corals, well that went out the window as soon as I saw them! So here’s my top picks:

Currently if you purchase 3, you get a chic little case to keep them in. When selecting your 3, there’s a cute idea that you’re meant to choose them along with the Friend, Fantasy, Lover theory. One is your friend which is your everyday safe colour, one is your fantasy – a shade that you’ve always wanted to wear but not yet dared and lover is one with the same name as a man in your life….past or present.

The collection is also currently available in a pre selected set of 10 for £270 or for the TF addict who can’t decide, a boxed set of the complete collection for £1,470.

I love these, the choice of colours and the cute handbag size of them. I know I’ll be adding to my collection again very soon….!
